About the Artist

Brenda Jackson is an acrylic and mixed media painter based in the Chicago metropolitan area. Originally from a small lakeside town in northern Michigan, and a regular visitor to beautiful Cape Town in South Africa, Brenda's work is heavily influenced by nature's infinite beauty. Her work is abstract in style, evoking powerful feelings of connection between ourselves and our surroundings.

After attending Hope College in Michigan where she earned her degree in Fine Arts, Brenda continued on to study at the School of the Art Institute of Chicago, qualifying as a teacher of art. Brenda then established art programs for Chicago Public Schools as well as preschool programs in the nearby suburbs, both still running and thriving today.

For the past 25 years, Brenda has spent the majority of her time raising a family, while still dabbling in art along the way. In 2019 and 2020, Brenda took Nicholas Wilton's Creative Visionary Art Program, which sparked her desire to go back to painting full time. Since then, Brenda has continued Nicholas Wilton's program as well as thoroughly dedicating herself to her practice, painting nearly every day, learning to take more risks, following her intuition and showing up for herself in her art and in the world.
